international

Increasingly, through a range of projects including the SUPPORT project, SDC is developing links across the UK, in Europe and globally. The development of the European Commission Strategy and the WHO Europe Mental Health Plan and Declaration provide important opportunities for shared learning and collaborative working between Scotland and International partners to resolve common problems with innovative solutions. SDC is in a position, in partnership with others to:

  • Act as a conduit for learning between, within and across Scotland, the UK, Europe and beyond
  • Help to develop new thinking and innovative practice across and within countries and across sectors
  • Develop opportunities for linking with countries with similar profiles to Scotland to further develop shared learning and expertise
  • To identify possible partners within Europe to support joint research opportunities in areas of common interest.

Mental Health First Aid in England, Wales & Ireland

Due to the commitment we have shown in introducing MHFA to Scotland, the originators in Australia have authorised us to support the introduction and development of MHFA to England, Ireland and Wales on their behalf. As a result the Programme Lead for People & Partnership Development has worked with and supported all three countries to implement MHFA. In particular, we designed and delivered the development centre for their national training teams who will train and approve Instructors.
